As the patient-centered medical home (PCMH) model is being implemented in numerous health centers serving vulnerable populations, CHAS Fellow Marshall Chin and Medicaid Working Group member Robert Nocon set out to identify specific characteristics associated with health center’s PCMH capability. Their work included a cross-sectional analysis of a national dataset of Federally Qualified Health Centers from 2009. The results showed that the utilization of an electronic health record system, more types of financial performance incentives, more types of hospital to health center affiliations, and location may all influential factors positively influencing PCMH capability.
