CHAS Awarded Grant Funding to Host Big Data in Health Workshop

The Center for Health Administration Studies (CHAS) was honored to receive generous seed grant funding from the Big Ideas Generator (BIG) initiative at the University of Chicago to produce a summer workshop on a topic that is truly bold. To continue focusing our attention on large dataset research projects associated with Medicare and Medicaid, CHAS partnered with the Computation Institute (CI) to co-host the Big Data in Health Workshop on August 4, 2016, at the Gleacher Center in downtown Chicago. Select researchers and experts associated with various big data applications, including informatics, EMRs, preventative analytics and evidence-based projects, were invited for an entire day of presentations and discussions to understand the state of big data on campus and how collaborations and projects can be facilitated in the future. Participants seem invigorated and eager to continue interdisciplinary events in the future. Before the start of Autumn Quarter, look for workshop photos on the CHAS photo galleries webpage and presentation videos on the CHAS YouTube channel.
