CHAS Co-Director Colleen Grogan and colleagues review the probable consequences of statements made by President Trump and other Republican leaders should they be translated into policy. Thus far, they explain, Medicaid expansions have been shown to positively correlate with improved health status. The authors indicate an increase in employment rates could potentially avert some of the effects a public health crisis should said expansions be repealed and 22 million people lose coverage, but a reduction in public coverage would still ultimately create new challenges for public health agencies and the communities they serve.
