The Smart Decarceration Initiative (SDI) is a collaborative effort to end mass incarceration, co-directed by CHAS Fellow Matthew Epperson and Washington University in St. Louis’s Carrie Pettus-Davis. Specifically SDI works at: advancing innovations in policy and practice, identifying a continuum of viable exit strategies from the criminal justice system, and cultivating networks to promote new approaches and perspectives. CHAS is pleased to co-sponsor SDI’s 2nd National Conference taking place at the School of Social Sciences on November 2-4, 2017.
