Bersamira, Yu-An Lin, and Keunhye Park examined past-year drug use among Asian Americans with respect to ethnic subgroup, acculturation, and gender differences using data collected from the National Latino and Asian American Survey. Their research was able to identify acculturation, gender, ethnicity, age, depression and drinking as predictive factors in Asian American drug use. Their research also indicated that Filipinos and Asians who are U.S. born with high English proficiency as two demographic groups with higher than average rates of past-year drug use.
