CHAS co-sponsors SSA faculty co-authored book launch and conference
On May 23, 2019, with generous support from the School of Social Service Administration, the University of Washington’s School of Social Work and New York University’s Silver School of Social Work, the Center for Health Administration Studies hosted a book launch event for Shaping a Science in Social Work: Professional Knowledge and Identity to celebrate SSA’s leadership and distinct imprint on this book. During the day, a small private conference was held to reunite the book’s co-authors to provide them the opportunity to reflect together on knowledge construction in social work and the historical influences of their contributions. In the evening, a select panel of the co-authors, who are also either SSA faculty or alumni, spoke to the public about the challenges, tensions, and opportunities for social work science and knowledge in the social work profession into the future. A book signing convened after the panel presentation and a public reception. A uniquely personal and educational experience for all!
